Hello, welcome to RJ Sound Designs

My name is Ruairi McAleer, and I am a freelance sound engineer/AV Technician based in Northern Ireland. My passion is working with all types of sound, whether it’s for live gigs, studio recording, outdoor recording, PA system hire services, or general sound engineering. I started playing guitar at 16, and since then, I’ve wanted to learn everything about sound and how music impacts our everyday life. I am a very creative person, so I can find new ideas and implement them into the projects I work on. I am a big fan of movies and comic books, so I might start rambling at times, but it shows I’m enthusiastic about things I enjoy. If you are looking for help with a project you are working on, want help with a gig setup or just want some advice, please get in touch.

Some work I’ve done

Recording: Below is the SoundCloud link to a cover of Lover by Taylor Swift. This was a group project with three other people Edward Haughian, Dermot Martin and Neasa Brady in which we recorded, mixed and mastered so that it could be published on a streaming service.

Sound engineering: Sound engineering is my bread and butter and my primary source of work. Since starting this business, I have worked with a wide range of different shows, including theatre productions, band setups, and conferences. I’ve worked with some notable companies and bands such as Wolfhound, an Irish Trad and Folk band, AVC audio visual company helping with conferences and festival setups, and the Ulster Orchestra with their learning engagement school workshops teaching kids to get into music.
